This is a "legacy" blog. The legacy being my favorite black cat, Dexter, who died on December 25, 2011 ten minutes before midnight at the age of 19.
He was funny, loving, sassy, and a rescue cat from Muffin's Pet Listings in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He lived in five places in his life: born in Park Slope, where his first human couldn't keep him, and then he came to me near Shore Road in February 1994. He was 14 months when I got him. We lived in three more Brooklyn apartments before I lost everything in the recession and relocated to my mom's house (his human Grandmom) in Florida. It was the first time he played on grass, saw lizards, blue birds up close, had access to squirrels and ducks. It was also the first time he had fleas. Humid weather and old cats don't mix well. But he was happy.
He laid down on a white blanket one more time between the tv and the Christmas tree before he took his last breath. I wasn't there when he was born, but I was there for every minute up to his final moments.
A finer, lovelier, funnier feline has never existed. I love you, Mr. Boo. I miss you every day.
Every black cat I see (and maybe forever) makes me think of you.
These were his "words." I lost access to this blog in 2009. Now I have it back. That's why it hasn't been updated. I'm going to leave it the way it is, here for everyone to enjoy.
